leaving new york

I shot this roll of super8 in the weeks leading up to my move away from new york for perhaps the last time, but in the very least for the indefinite future.

new york and I go through our phases, and my goal in shooting this roll was to capture the way I felt as I was preparing to leave-- which was, overwhelmingly so, grateful to be there, in the center of it all, having come out the other side of perhaps the most influential 11 months of my life so far. to capture the love of place, the love of community, the love of love I was feeling as I packed my bags and made my goodbye rounds once more.

thank you to the friends, to the smiling strangers in passing, to the 14 hour days on set, to the people that opened doors for me and guided me through them, to the sunny spring afternoons in the park, to my incredible sister and my wonderful mama and the year spent in their company, to the answers that found their way to me (most frequently on the LIRR in the early hours of the morning), and to the energy of this very special place. this is for you.
